FAILURE ANALYSIS / EQUIPMENT TESTING

To-day’s ever-increasing demands place more and more strain upon equipment – and sometimes things fail.

Failure can have very significant financial impacts upon projects, not least when gas / oil cash flow is hindered – or at worst considerably delayed. Were it not, for example, thorough equipment testing / qualification being carried out for the UK’s HPHT Fields, project success and associated cash-flow would have been much reduced.

IDEAS, through their design experience, equipment operating experience and knowledge of equipment loadings in both a qualitative and quantitative sense, are able to apply expertise to the understanding of failure analysis in conjunction with the United Kingdom’s foremost failure analysis laboratories to solve why something has failed – and what should be done in the future to prevent similar failure again – whether through design-improvement or operational loading parameter change.

Similarly, new equipment can be tested at the same laboratories or downhole on a land rig test site at excellent facilities in North-East Scotland in order to prove / determine new equipment’s worthiness or to monitor potential weakness.

All Failure Analysis / Equipment Testing is carried out under expert, independent guidance to fully comprehensive test programmes – and all data acquisition and subsequent reporting is of course fully comprehensive.
